Essential Oils in the Nursery
It is essential to be aware of the safety guidelines for using essential oils with babies. While essential oils can provide many benefits, it is important to take extra precautions when diffusing them around newborns and infants under three months old. The skin and respiratory system of a baby are very delicate, and any potential allergies or sensitivities may not yet have been detected.
Therefore, doctors recommend avoiding essential oils until your baby is at least 3 months old. However, plain tap water can be safely diffused in an Ultrasonic Vaporiser from birth as this will help create a humidified environment perfect for sleeping. Additionally, essential oil blends specifically designed for babies should only ever be used on children over 2 years old as their skin is more mature than that of younger children and they are better able to metabolise the essential oils' components without risk of irritation or toxicity - zero synthetic chemicals!
